At ThIS, we’ve invested in many changes – big and small – to reduce our environmental footprint. And we recognise it’s an ongoing effort, with continual room for improvement.

Waste Recycling and reduction

• We have a waste recycling program throughout the whole school.
• We don’t use single-use crockery and cutlery.

Energy consumption

• Measure „LED Lighting“, realization from July 2023 to June 2024
  • Conversion of all lights to LED lights
  • Partially financed with subsidies from Bundesminsterium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz and Thüringer Ministerium für Umwelt, Energie und Naturschutz.
• All buildings are equipped with motion sensors for hallway and room lights.
• Solar energy panels on the roof of one of the main buildings.

Insulation

• We use the maximum possible internal insulation for building facades.
• Our windows all feature highly effective thermal insulation.

Protecting our planet

• We plant new trees; five in the last month.
