ThIS Summer Camp – what a great time!
ThIS offers a summer camp to its students (Grades EP2-5) for the first week of the summer vacation each year.

In recent years, there was a diversity of activities. Children explored the city of Weimar, the national trust property Hainich with the “Baumkronenpfad”, and had a real adventure kayaking on the Ilm. On the trip to the lovely town of Kahla and to Seitenroda with the centuries old castle “Leuchtenburg”, students experienced life as knights and princesses. Moreover, there was swimming in the Schwanseebad, a dance workshop at school, and a course at the climbing wall. Altogether the students had a lot of fun and found new friends!

Details on the Summer Camp and the registration form will be available here in spring 2019.

Co-Curricular Activities

Three 10-week sessions
The school offers a range of recreational and educational after school (co-curricular) activities led by the teaching staff. They are designed for students to acquire skills, discover new talents and make new friends. Participation is possible for matriculated ThIS students on a “first come first serve” basis. These activities are generally free of charge except for a nominal materials’ fee. Details, times and dates are announced at the beginning of each school year.

In addition we are able to offer space to individual providers for instance for music lessons. Please contact the school’s office for details and approval from the Director.

Cancellation Policy
There is a minimum number of participants required to open a club. Registration of less than 3 participants for an activity will result in a cancellation.

Please note that there is a special contract for the bus transportation after co-curricular activities. If needed please fill out the form and return it to the school.

If a club is cancelled for any reason, parents will be informed and children will be sent to regular day care until picked up by the parent, bus driver or authorized designee.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

The school offers a variety of field trips for all students, EP-12. These range from half-day drives to the local park to Model United Nations (MUN) Trips abroad. Field Trips provide a way for teachers to approach knowledge in a completely new way and for students to have fun while learning. Students have a chance to experience hands-on learning while also being introduced to new environments, cultures and the world beyond.

In addition we are able to offer space to individual providers for instance for music lessons. Please contact the school’s office for details and approval from the Director.

Classroom field trips are considered part of the school’s curricular offerings and therefore participation by all students is mandatory.

Parents are encouraged and welcome to take part in these educational learning experiences. Information and details will be given to parents ahead of time.
