Director’s Welcome

ThIS is a diverse and welcoming community of students, staff and parents who share the desire to promote positive change in the world through collaborative action and compassionate inquiry.

In a world where thinking, communication and justice can seem polarized, simplistic and inequitable, we offer a globally minded education that incorporates the International Baccalaureate’s Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes to help our students navigate the complexity and uncertainty that they see ahead of them.

“We are standing on the rubble of the world that was, and we must have the foresight and courage to imagine, and create, the world as it should be: more compassionate, more equal, more sustainable”

Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Ressa

Our community values the capacity to discern with a global perspective, to reflect with imagination and insight and to think critically, rationally, creatively and independently. We are ambitious for our students and community members to act with self-efficacy, confidence and engagement, to collaborate with empathy for others and to affect a beneficial impact in the world. ThIS is a community and a place where all of its members can belong, rather than fit in.

We also value the opportunity to participate in the growth of the state of Thuringia and to work in a region with a rich history and a dynamic present and future. ThIS is the only private International School in the state of Thuringia accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS), and is a member of the Association of German International Schools (AGIS). Our graduates are prepared to contribute and take responsibility for themselves and their communities as they find their place in the world, often in German universities and increasingly in programmes and colleges around the globe.

Please come and visit ThIS, meet our dedicated and experienced staff and see how our students learn and thrive together.
